Unanswered prayers!

So many times in my life, I have gone through a situation and then praised God for an unanswered prayer.  Our last post was full of such excitement over the purchase of a new home.  Well... after being strung along...we won't get into that mess... the financing for the people buying our current house fell through.  We were a little emotional, and upset over lost money invested in the process, but quickly realized God is always in control and always wants the best for us.  After a lot of prayer and consideration, we have taken our house off the market!  We have the most wonderful neighbors and we are close to many of our good friends, so why leave!  I still sometimes think about all the room we would have had on Lake Vista....then I remember I don't have to clean all of that extra space.  Yes!  :)

On another note, the girls are growing up right before our eyes.  Kara is an amazing big sister.  She is learning so much at school and absolutely loves her sisters.  Lizzie and Lolo are a handful, but they share such a special bond.  And to think, Jason and I always prayed for two healthy babies.  Good thing God ignored that prayer as well!

Happy New Year!  I will upload some Christmas pictures when I get a chance.  Hopefully, sooner rather than later.

The power of prayer!

As many of you know, we have had our house on the market since May.  We LOVE our house, and we LOVE our neighbors even more, but we needed a little more space.  With interest rates so low, we wanted to jump before they go up again.  We also wanted to get a little closer to work so we could cut down on drive time and spend more time together.  So... we were at peace with the whole process and really trusting that the right house for us we be available we the right buyers were ready to purchase our house.  Fast forward a couple of months, we had settled on the fact that the house may take a lot longer to sell.  Every person loved our house, but no one put an offer on the table.  About a week ago, I saw an old friend and she joked that we should take it off the market and save it for her.  I told her not to worry and that it would be there when she was ready.

All this time, we have been searching HAR, but never getting our hopes up.  Well, of course, I found 'the one' about two months ago.  Plenty of bedrooms, big kitchen, 249/spring cypress area, etc!  It was perfect AND right around the corner from our good friends.  Jason was out of town this past week, so I was just looking around on HAR on Wednesday.  I saw that 'the one' would be having an open house on Sunday (that would be today!).  Ugh!!!  I knew it would be gone, but I also knew that was okay.  I figured it must not be the one since I was sure it would sell before we could sell ours.

All of a sudden, we had a showing on Thursday morning and they came back on Thursday afternoon.  Then they came back again on Friday morning, and by Friday evening we had negotiated the contract and agreed on the terms!  Saturday morning we went to  see a few houses, but we knew instantly 'the one' was 'the one'!  We drove to Panera... got the paperwork together, got a pre-approval letter and made an offer that afternoon.  After a few back and forth phone calls, we got the house!

And here it is.....

Yea!!  It is our new house.  The people buying our house want to close the first week in November!  Luckily, the people who we are buying from are ready to completely move out, so they are fine with a quick closing.  Keep the prayers coming, because we still have to make it through all of the paperwork hoops and inspections.  We will keep updates coming as we get closer.

First things first!

What a couple of months it has been in the LaBorde household!  Let's see where to begin... the twins have been growing like weeds.  They are running around trying their best to keep up with Kara.  Elizabeth is quite the talker.  She says, 'Bow', right after she pulls her bow out of her hair.  Here is the proof!
Lauren is not much into talking, but she follows directions really well.  She leads Elizabeth into the bedroom each night to put the clothes in the hamper, can always find missing pacifiers, and takes the remote to Daddy even if Mommy is trying to watch something!  She also tends to be the more sensitive one of the bunch.

Kara started pre-school last month.  She is loving school, but handwriting is a struggle.  I am trying to be patient without letting her be lazy!  Ha!  Oh... the joys of parenthood.  It should be interesting to see how she develops all of those skills in preparation for Kindergarten!  Wow, how time flies.  We are so proud of our big girl.  She has really been a great help with the twins and she is a joy to be around.

The first six weeks at my new school have been great.  Elementary is a lot of fun!  I have already been initiated into the system.  One of my students had an accident on my floor and another passed out/vomited on my floor.  That was interesting to say the least.  I teach the entire school each week which is over 800 students and 10 classes a day.  I am exhausted at the end of the day, but the end is the end!  I get the girls and we are home in time for dinner and playtime.  The best part is having free weekends to hang out, visit friends and go to church.  I miss the high school kids, but I know my new job is best for our family and me!
Well, I am looking forward to keeping the blog updated with pictures and infomation about the kids.  I hope I can keep up!

Updating...

What a year it has been!  I am feeling sentimental about our little family.... Jason and I are quickly approaching our 7 year anniversary on June 7th.  Elizabeth and Lauren will turn a year old in one week and Kara will be 4 in a few short months.  It is crazy to think of where the path has taken us, but we are enjoying the ride!  It is my goal to update more frequently this summer.  I also am trying to spruce up the blog with cute layouts, etc. We will see if I can keep up....

We're back!

I have been catching a lot of flack for my lack of updates! I am sure most of you know Lauren and Elizabeth were born on June 2, 2009. They are 4 weeks old today. Elizabeth was born at 3:29pm. She was 18 inches and 7 lbs. 12 ozs. Lizzy had to stay in the NICU for a day because they wanted to monitor her breathing. She looked like a toddler compared to the other babies in the NICU. Lauren was born at 3:48pm. She was 19.5 inches and 7 lbs. 8 ozs. She went to the NICU for a couple of hours for observation and then got to stay with us after that. The first month has been interesting! They seem to switch personalities on a daily basis. It is crazy. One day, Lauren is fussy and the next Lizzy takes the reins! They are adjusting to their schedule and are great babies.... most of the time! :) Kara loves being a big sister. She calls them 'her babies'! She has meltdowns now and then (what 2 year old doesn't!), but overall she is excited. She tells us that she is excited to teach them to crawl and talk! I personally want to enjoy the baby stage. They grow up so quickly.
Kara starts gymnastics in two weeks and she has her tonsil surgery in 3 weeks. I will be headed back to work (summer practice and camp!) in a few weeks as well. Next week, Jason will be out of town on business. It should be an interesting week.
Here are some pics.....

Update and putting together the play park!

Well, no change from last week. For a minute, we thought Lauren flipped! It was crazy. Her heartbeat seemed to be registering at my belly button and her hiccups looked like they were at my ribs! Dr. Laden sent me to the ultrasound room to double check and they are both still head down. It doesn't really matter except for delivery. Anyway, the induction is scheduled for June 2nd. We have no idea how long the labor will be, so we are going to go at this one alone. With all the craziness of two births, we want to make sure I can be focused on the job ahead! Don't worry, we will call EVERYONE when they arrive. Knowing these two stubborn little girls, it may be another long day... and night! If you don't remember, Jason's dad made it in from Reno with 5 hours to spare with Kara. Our babies tend to put off entering the world as long as possible.
This past weekend Jason and Jim put together Kara's play park. That is Kara's term for a swing set. It took forever, but it is well constructed. It was definitely a labor of love! Check out the pics! I am also posting the BIG (and I mean BIG) 37 week picture.

Weekly update!

Well... everything went great at the doctor's appointment today. Lauren is estimated to weigh 6 lbs. 13 ozs. and Elizabeth is estimated to weigh 6 lbs. 14 ozs. They are both looking great... but it is getting to be a tight squeeze in there! Dr. Laden said I am 40% effaced and around 2 cm dialated! This is exciting because I was not dialated at all with Kara even when my water broke. On the other hand, I could walk around for weeks at a 2 and still not go into labor! I will be induced on June 2nd if the girls have not arrived by then. So... 12 days or less! I am going to continue working, walking, swimming, eating mexican food, etc and hope they come soon! My next appointment is Tuesday... but maybe we will have babies before then! I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend!
